THE BEAUTY OF CHOICE
I rarely talk about body image, although it is a topic that I think yoga teachers should consider.
So often I see students focusing on how they look, perhaps imagining an image of a fit, lean “yoga body” pretzeling in advanced shapes. (Anybody who is doing yoga is a yoga body!!)
It does not help when media messaging so often blurs the distinction between who we really are instead of how it “𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘬𝘴 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦”.
There is nothing wrong to want to look good. I do. I do believe yoga can help us look better.
But it’s because we choose to commit to consistent practice, and that may lead to making healthier choices in food, or having less stress.
Then the beauty comes. How it looks, is never the intention of our practice.
Something to consider:
When you look at yourself in the morning in the mirror, are you actually beautiful?
What is beauty to you?
A body built from hard work is admirable.
A body built to impress is not.

When you make a beautiful choice, so will you.
