Q.T.I.P. (QUIT TAKING IT PERSONALLY)

One of the things that I have learned as a teacher is we ought to stop taking things so personally.

When students don’t appreciate our class the way we want them to, it has nothing to do with us (OK.. maybe sometimes it’s got something to do with us, but mostly not).

Sometimes, when we try to teach students and they don’t get it or it didn’t work for some of them, we tend to take it out on ourselves.

But you know what? These situations are not a reflection of our worth.

We are all distinct, people!

We are all different – shapes, body structure, strength, flexibility, experience, tolerance level, willingness to try, and in many aspects.

We are all still trying to find our own answers on the mat.

So, when we encounter students who don’t resonate with what we say, don’t understand what we want to teach, or simply don’t like us, that has nothing to do with who we are.

We can’t make everyone like us.

But when we do find the right person (or people), we will never be too much for them.

And those people will learn from us, see us, understand, and resonate with us.

But again. even when you find the right students, it’s NOT ABOUT YOU.

It’s about them.

It’s about who they are and how you can serve or impact their lives.

Find the right people.
