MINDSET AND YOGA
One of the questions being asked is,
First, I disagree that students who come to yoga just want to stretch or move. They may think so, or even say so.
But I think deep down they know that there is something more than physical yoga exercise. Maybe they canโt describe it yet.
But I believe they know. And if they donโt (yet), itโs our job to let them experience that through our teachings. ๐
Besides saying โlisten to your bodyโ, โbe mindfulโ, or just laying out all the Yamas and Niyamas, there are MANY ways that we can โsneak inโ some philosophical teachings in yoga classes.
First by asking yourself how you feel in your OWN practice.
When I practice backbends, I often have fear because we canโt see our back.
It takes COURAGE to get over the fear to explore the
When I practice side splits, I feel discomfort but I know that itโs part of the practice.
Learning to ๐๐ ๐๐ฅ๐๐๐ ๐ง๐๐ ๐๐๐ฆ๐๐ข๐ ๐๐ข๐ฅ๐ง and stay with it. โจ
When I practice arm balance, itโs when I feel itโs time to cultivate PATIENCE, knowing that it takes time and repetitions to build strength.
I learn to โ๐ฅ๐ฐ ๐ข๐ฏ๐บ ๐ข๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ถ๐ฏ๐ตโ of the pose and not to give up.
A little challenge for you today.
Students, as you practice today, take a moment to perceive how you feel and note what EMOTIONAL attribute you can cultivate through your practice.
Teachers, when you teach today, consider the emotional/mental attribute of your class โ what message would you like to convey in your class today?
