BUILD YOUR HOME PRACTICE

No doubt that the past two years of COVID has brought a lot of challenges and interruptions in our daily life.

I remembered how frustrated I was when yoga studios closed and I felt I had NOWHERE TO GO to practice. 😔

Until I accept that I must build my home practice if I want to maintain my practice.

And be grateful that yoga actually requires rather minimal equipment (says the person who has 4 blankets, 2 chairs, the yoga wheel, and at one point, a hammock at home).

But ultimately all we need is a mat, two blocks, and a yoga belt.

Recently as studios reopened, I hear some students, while excited to return to the studio to practice with other people (me too!), they also want to maintain or start their home practice. 😊

And as summer comes, many of us are traveling and some are worried about falling off their practice during the summer season and want to maintain some sort of home practice.

So, here is a fun exercise for you to build your own 25 minutes of home practice.

This is how it goes. 👇

𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝟭: Write down 4 poses that you like.

𝘍𝘰𝘳 𝘦𝘹𝘢𝘮𝘱𝘭𝘦

  1. Downward Facing Dog.

  2. Wide Leg Forward Fold.

  3. Wheel Pose.

  4. Pigeon Pose.

𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝟮: Set a timer for 5 minutes.

𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝟯: Do the 4 poses that you write down.

You have the option of

  1. Staying in the pose for 5 minutes – experiment with different props.

  2. When you are in the pose, see what comes and follow your intuition and flow with it.

When 5 minutes is up, move to the next one. This will make 20 minutes of your home practice.

𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝟰: Save 5 minutes for Savasana.

P.S. I have a community dedicated to yoga teachers to hang out and grow together. If you’d like to get more support and have your questions answered, we’ll have your back here! 🤗
